A programmable desktop calculator realised in TTL-logic with a Nixie tube and a core memory. The Wang 700 is a direct competitor to the HP-9100. It is indeed a little bit younger and transistorized with ICs, but not as modern as the HP-9810. Exactly as in the 9100 Firmware is stored in a magnetic core-ROM. A digital cassette drive is used as mass storage. Many peripheral devices could be attached to this calculation machine too.

In the early fifties, An Wang had worked with the IBM company and contributed to the invention of the magnetic core memory there. He did not feel that his work was appreciated enough and he so founded his own computer company aiming to dirve his former employer out of the market.
