A, 6/1993 Notes on Installation ===================== Mounting the drive ------------------ Mount the drive securely in any orientation using either the bottom or side mounting holes. NOTE Make sure you mount the drive so that you do not strain the cables. Bottom mounting holes --------------------- Insert four 6-32 UNC-2A screws not more than 0.20 inches (6 turns) into the drive frame. Side mounting holes ------------------- Insert four 6-32 UNC-2A screws not more than 0.13 inches (4 turns) into the drive frame. CAUTION If you use a screw that is too long, you cold damage the drive. Attaching cables ---------------- 1. Turn off the system power 2. Put on a grounded wrist strap. 3. Attach the 40-pin AT interface cable. Attach one end of the cable to the drive interface connector and the other end to the interface connector on the host adapter or the host system mother- board. If you are installing two drives, use a daisy-chain cable. Verify that pin 1 of the interface cable is matched to pin 1 of the interface connector on the drive and on the host computer. Pin 1 is usually deenoted by a stripe on the side of the ribbon cable. 4. Attach the power cable. Attach a system power cable to the drive power connector.
