This CD contains all releases of the RTE/CSL from 1980 through the date of this version. To access the files, use a standard html browser (Netscape, Internet Explorer, etc.) and point it to the file index.html or open the corresponding .txt files with any editor. The contributions are indexed in 4 ways: 1. Contribution Name 2. Author Name 3. Keyword reference 4. GJOB special contributions Each contribution is available as individual files within directory rev_xxxx, where xxxx is the release number. Non-text files are uuencoded. Each contribution is also available as a binary fst archive file in directory rev_fst. HOW TO USE THE RTE CSL CD First, find the programs of interest to you by using the index of contributions, authors or keywords. This will lead you to the description of the program and its reference number. Each contribution is referred to by its release code and submission number. The release code is the 4-digit date code (2340, 4030, etc.) of the set of contributions that made up the release (generally, there was one release per year and the first two digits of the release code added to 1960 gives the year of the release; 3226 was released in 1992). Each individual contribution is labeled with a 6-character contribution number (F00101, Z00701). The files that make up the contribution are numbered within the contribution number (F00101, F00102, etc.) If you are using an RTE system which includes the FST utility (the standard HP backup utility for many years), simply go to the rev_fst directory on the CD and copy the .fst file to your RTE system. Run FST on that file to retrieve all of the components of the contribution in their original form. If that is not feasible (you want to see the source code using a non-RTE system, you don't have fst), than you can retrieve the files from the REV_xxxx directories. These directories contain all of the original files in ASCII format; as described elsewhere, the original ASCII files are unchanged except that their names may have been altered to avoid problems with naming conventions on other systems and the binary files are uuencoded. If you have a CD reader on your RTE system, you should be able to mount this CD directly. Otherwise, you can mount it to a PC or Unix system and ftp or otherwise copy the files to the RTE system. Note that all files EXCEPT the .fst files can be transferred as ASCII files. The .fst files must be transferred as binary files. Some of the descriptive material is in .pdf format. Obviously, this cannot be displayed on an RTE system. Using a PC or a Unix system as a terminal to the RTE system allows you to mount this CD and open the .pdf files alongside your telnet window. ACKNOWLEDGMENTS Interex would like to thank Stephen Gauss and Alan Whitney for the many hours they put forth to identify, port, compile, test, and package the programs included on this CD. We especially recognize the efforts of Alan Whitney, RTE CSL Chairman, who has compiled and supported all of the HP1000/ RTE Contributed Software Library releases since 1982. We would also like to thank those authors who have contributed their software programs to the CSL over the years. Without their contributions, others would not have been able to share in the use of these timesaving tools and these releases would not have been possible.
